Cilantro lovers rejoice- this is the best guacamole recipe loaded with cilantro, avocado, tomatoes, chives or green onion, jalapeño, lime, and garlic salt. Pair it with tortilla chips for the perfect appetizer, side, or snack.
I’m not an expert at photography guacamole so don’t judge the photo of this recipe, but do trust me that this guacamole recipe is legit, delicious, and you need to make this soon (as long as you are in the cilantro-loving camp). I came upon this guacamole during my son’s post-basketball tournament team party. A fellow soccer mom made a guacamole similar to this, and the adults were going nuts over it, including myself. I kept going back for more knew I had to try to recreate it at home and I’m happy with how it turned out. It has a kick from the jalapeños, which you can play around with by the amount of seeds you add in.
Cilantro Guacamole Recipe Ingredients
avocado is obviously the base of this recipe. Use 6 small or 4 large, ripe avocados.
tomatoes add a little acidity to this guacamole, simply dice two Roma tomatoes, leaving out the seeds.
cilantro is the star flavor of this guacamole and makes this recipe unique. I simply use scissors to cut the cilantro leaves into small pieces before adding to the dip.
chives or green onions also add a freshness to this guacamole and a delicate onion taste.
jalapeño adds some heat. Cut out the inner membranes and discard. How much of the seeds you add to the dip depends on how spicy you want it, and how spicy your specific jalapeños are. I normally keep about a third of the seeds in my dip because I like it mildly spicy.
lime juice adds a fresh citrus flavor, but if you are anti-lime in your guacamole feel free to leave this ingredient out!
garlic salt is perfect for adding a hint of garlic to the guacamole.
To make this recipe simply mash the ripe avocados until desired consistency. Mix in the cilantro, chives or green onions, fresh diced tomatoes, and jalapeños. Add in freshly squeezed juice from 1 small lime and garlic salt to taste and combine. That’s it! Enjoy this delicious cilantro guacamole recipe with tortilla chips or as a side with fish, enchiladas or tacos!
