This recipe for the best baked German pancakes is delicious, fluffy, and one of our favorite easy breakfast recipes! Nutella, banana and whipped cream are delicious toppings, but there are endless possibilities. You probably already have the ingredients needed for the German pancake base in your kitchen: butter, flour, eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla.
How to make German Pancakes
These german pancakes are so simple to make and our perfect for relaxed weekend mornings with your family. After you gather your ingredients the first thing you do is preheat your oven to 425 °F. Add a cube of butter to your 9 X 13 dish and place in the oven.
Remove from oven once butter is melted.
While the butter is melting in the preheated oven, Blend up the rest of the ingredients: flour, eggs, milk, salt and vanilla, in your blender until fully combined.
Pour the batter into the buttered dish and then bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until puffy, cooked through and starting to lightly brown at the edges.
Take German pancakes out of the oven once they are done cooking, cut into squares and serve with your choice of toppings.
We love topping with Nutella, sliced bananas, freshly whipped cream and a drizzle of syrup but you can top with whatever you want! Strawberries and whipped cream, caramelized apples and cinnamon, freshly squeezed lemon juice with powdered sugar, or simply maple syrup.
