I’m really excited to share with you this week’s Fall dinner ideas meal plan from Ali Randall of Home & Plate. I hope you will enjoy the menu this week and check out her blog where you’ll find dishes that take little time, feature easy-to-find ingredients and above all, taste good!
Ali started Home & Plate two years ago as a way to collect family recipes and new favorites, and the blog grew into something she now loves sharing with my readers. She lived in South America for the first 10 years of her life and has traveled and visited so many wonderful countries. Today, she calls Dublin, Ohio home, where she lives with her husband and two teenage sons. They are avid Buckeye and Reds fans and love to get to the games whenever they have the chance. She feels blessed to have wonderful friends and neighbors and a loving family to share my recipes with. Ali is currently working on a new e-cookbook coming out soon that features recipes “From the Farm Stand.”

Fall Dinner Ideas Meal Plan from Home & Plate
Honeycrisp Apple Quesadillas with Bacon & Cheddar from Home & Plate
Ingredients: honeycrisp apples, bacon, cheddar, flour tortillas.
Umm, four ingredients?! Yes please! I love that this is such a simple recipe and even kids can appreciate a good quesadilla. If the toppings are too gourmet for the kids you can always make them a plain one with apple slices on the side while the adults enjoy the recipe as is. I like to bake my bacon in the oven (350 or 400 degrees until desired crispiness, usually about 15 minutes for me).
Individual Chicken Pot Pies from Home & Plate
Ingredients: rotisserie chicken, butter, chopped onion, flour, chicken broth, milk, mixed vegetables, pie crust.
Chicken pot pie is the perfect comfort food, and I love the individual servings. You’ll need 3-4 tart dishes or bakeware bowls for this recipe (I fell in love with these cute little tart dishes at Anthro recently…although they might be too shallow. World market also has these fun aqua aqua soup crocks that would be perfect for this recipe). Instead of using rotisserie I normally just cook up some chicken breasts and I replace chicken broth with veggie broth (since those are the ingredients I normally already have on hand).
Cast Iron Roasted Chicken Breast with Carrots and Potatoes from Home & Plate
Ingredients: bacon, chicken breasts, flour, herbs de provence, white cooking wine, chicken broth, carrots, small potatoes, salt and pepper.
This is a one-pot recipe using your cast iron skillet so yay for less dishes! This recipe uses Herbs de Provence, which I would highly recommend investing in for this and other recipes, but if you are not feeling it then using any Italian blend is a good substitute.
Pear Tart with Goat Cheese, Rosemary and Honey from Home & Plate
Ingredients: puff pastry, pears, lemon juice, goat cheese, sugar, honey, freshed cracked pepper, fresh rosemary leaves, parchment paper.
I get that this is probably more of a dessert recipe but you only live once so why not enjoy it as part of dinner. Consider pairing it with the salad recipe below for a more balanced meal. I love the combination of goat cheese, pears and honey in this tart!
Honeycrisp Apple Pecan Salad with Apple Cider Vinaigrette from Home & Plate
Ingredients: honeycrisp apples, pecans, dried cranberries, goat cheese, chicken, mixed greens, apple cider vinegar, honey, olive oil, honey mustard, salt and pepper.
In order for me to crave a salad when the weather starts getting colder it has to be a hearty one, like this recipe. The chicken, apples, pecans, goat cheese and dried cranberries makes this salad filling and also really flavorful. The apple cider dressing is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet.
