This Brûléed Grapefruit combines strong grapefruit flavor with hardened caramelized sugar for a delicious breakfast or light dessert!
Trim about 1/2 inch peel from the bottom of each grapefruit half so the fruit can sit steady on serving plate.
Using a paring knife, cut the sections away from the membranes and pith sot hey are easy to spoon up. This step is optional, but allows for eating with greater ease!
Place grapefruit halves, cut side down, on paper towels to dry for a few minutes.
Put grapefruit back to flesh side up and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of brown or turbinado sugar evenly over grapefruit flesh.
Using a kitchen torch, heat the sugar until melted and beginning to brown. If you don't have a kitchen torch you can also broil in oven for 5-8 minutes, watching closely, until melted and browned to your liking.
Enjoy!
